Transition
Transition information
We are delighted that you have been offered a place at Dixons Brooklands Academy and we look forward to welcoming the class of 2028 and their families into our academy. Over the coming months, we will get to know students and their families through a variety of events and activities. Through this process, we will discover what will help each and every student be successful during their time at Dixons Brooklands and to achieve our vision for them during their time with us.
“Dixons Brooklands provided a first-class education to maximise students’ opportunities to live a fulfilling life and make a difference in their community”
We aim to make the transition process for students as seamless as possible and to support this we have several events that will take place in the near future including:
- Transition evening: Wednesday 5 July – This evening is designed to help parents/carers and students prepare for the new academic year by providing information about the school and key policies. There is also the opportunity to purchase uniform and meet key members of staff such as the Year 7 Pastoral Team, Your Advisor and members of the Senior Leadership Team
- Transition day: Thursday 6 July - On this day, we invite all year 6 students who are joining us in September to come and spend the day with us. Students will have an opportunity to tour the school and to participate in a number of workshops. We hope to alleviate any anxiety students might have about starting in September and to create opportunities for students to form new friendships
- Additional transition days – We also hold additional transition days for students who require extra support. These days are designed for students who have a heightened sense of anxiety about commencing secondary school and students who require additional support with the new structure and procedures of a secondary school environment. If you/your child feels an additional transition day is required, please contact us by emailing the school
- Primary school visits (week beginning 12th June)- A member of the Dixons team will visit the primary schools to speak to students coming to Dixons Brooklands in September and to their year 6 teacher. Primary schools will have an opportunity to share key information about their students. This information will be used to support transition as students move up in September
